An overlay similar to the one that is used to allocate workers when clicking on a settler. An additional overlay would show what is being produced and where, without having to click through all of your buildings when trying to find a specific item.

Hey there! There already is such an onverlay, under CTRL by default. It shows you the enabled recipes in every production building.
If you meant the option to see production progress on an overlay, consider upvoting this suggestion: feedback.eremitegames.com/b/suggestions-feature-requests/worker-progress-circle-on-alt-down/
I think alt does this already? Or control
