Having finally gotten through all the prestige modifiers, it would be nice to be able to pick and choose among the penalties to customize the difficulty to what we'd like.
Some of the lower prestige modifiers I don't particularly enjoy, while I like almost all the high prestige penalties.
So how about the ability to enter a map with any penalties you want up to the maximum level of prestige that you've cleared at least once?
Replace the linear prestige progression with a pool of opt-in prestige conditions matching the current conditions. Prestige level is determined by the number of options picked, maximum selectable condition count and the pool of available conditions are increased by completing higher-prestige games. This adds an interesting choice to embark and allows players to avoid conditions they don't find fun (until max prestige is reached). "Increased reputation to win" remains as a mandatory first condition for prestige games.
The way Hades does it is fun and interactive.
This can also enable having a larger, more diverse, and more interesting pool of modifiers that you can mix and match while climbing based on the biome and obstacles ahead.
