Give the settlers randomly generated names to feel more of a connection to them. I love how this game changed my perspective on having to let go of a settlement once I've built it, and I think it'd be an even more "ouchy" feeling to do so if I knew who the settlers were. Giving them names gives each settlement its own unique story.

They already do. If you click on a house, you can see who lives there, they all have very much random names.
