The Boar race

A new species concept. Boars are sturdy, hairy creatures with a love of food, and the ability to detect it easily using their powerful sense of smell. In personality, they are brash, bold, and boorish. Unafraid and uncultured. Easy to please, but hard to inspire, with a laid back approach to life, and lacking an appreciation for the finer things.

To be well fed is all they crave in life. To that end, boars are capable of eating and enjoying ANY kind of complex food, though they gain 1 less resolve from each. This small penalty is easily compensated for by the ability to take advantage of sheer breadth of food, and to eat anything your town can produce in vast quantities
For entertainment, they also like consumption, enjoying wine and ale.
In addition, boars have a permanant 25% chance of consuming double food, and they recieve double the resolve penalty from being forbidden access to food, or from starvation

When it comes to labour, boars are naturally adept at sniffing out things hidden in the undergrowths. They have a new Foraging specialisation, which is added to The Forager and Harvester camps, clay pit, forester's hut, herb garden, and cellar. This may be added to other appropriate buildings too.

In addition, being bulky, furry, and well padded, they are quite suited to cold temperatures, but conversely, struggle in warm environments. They prefer the open air. To that end, boars get a new Outdoors comfort specialisation, giving them a resolve bonus in roles and structures that involve being outside, including all camps, hauling at warehouses, brickyard, ranch, farms, and any other buildings that involve lots of open air. Quite the opposite of the heat that lizards love.

So they are the perfect gatherers, right? Well, almost. But boars are also heavy handed and not particularly careful. As a result, they have a 10% chance of destroying production yields, at any building that doesn't apply their Foraging specialisation. They may be happy in a lot of common jobs, but other, more careful people will often do those jobs better. This can be balanced out with the double production chance from eating complex foods that all races get, and they can still become better than average if you can supply them a wide enough variety of complex foods to overcome this disadvantage

As a starting bonus, boars ensure that an additional dense cluster of small food resource nodes spawns either in your starting glade, or a nearby undiscovered one. This will always be something that doesn't otherwise exist in that glade, and can even be something which normally wouldn't spawn on the current biome

When assigned as a firekeeper, boars' ability to sniff out the good stuff gives an increase to all secondary byproduct resource harvesting, increasing the chance of secondary rewards by 25%

(stacking multiplicatively, not additively. A 40% chance becomes 50%, it doesn't become 65%)

When it comes to living arrangements, boars are very laid back and uncaring. They don't care much about personal space, and so Boar Houses have one extra population slot.
However, they also don't care much about personal hygiene, and their own smell is a blind spot in their finely honed senses. Because of this, for every two Boar Houses around a hearth, all other residents living at that hearth recieve -1 resolve. Boars are best housed at their own settlement a good distance away

I feel that boars would be a good race to have around if you want to go all in on a diverse food oriented strategy, pursuing many kinds of culinary mastery in one town. You need a lot to sate their appetites, but their simple tastes allow broad, rather than deep production chains. Making many types of complex food will keep them happy, and allow making use of whatever resources the map has to offer
